Another year and another record-setting workplace campaign for Simmons Pet Food.

Last year, the local pet food producer produced more than $51,000 in support of the United Way Campaign, nearly triple its 2023 total.  Monday morning, Simmons employees gathered with United Way representatives, where it was announced the company surpassed that total by more than $13,000, bringing in $64,772.29. United Way Director Daphne Mertens says this total is a result of the clear passion employees have for ensuring their neighbors are cared for and supported.

Simmons Complex Administrative Assistant Brenda Coburn, in a recent news release, says, “As most of you know, times are tough right now, and yet our team members stepped up for the Emporia community. They gave what they could, and it is truly appreciated. I am humbled by the response and so blessed to be Simmons Strong and Emporia Proud.”

Mertens applauded the work of Simmons staff and says she hopes this helps to inspire others to step up and give, noting donations don’t have to be astronomical; they just need to be made to have a potentially astronomical impact on someone’s life.

Mertens says the Simmons contribution will provide a significant boost to the campaign, as will another workplace campaign, which also saw an uptick this year.

The United Way fundraising campaign will continue through next summer. For more information, visit Unitedwayoftheflinthills.org.
